Our Businesses
Turf Production
Chubu’s Turf Production Division originated 40 years ago in the shadow of Mt. Daisen in coastal Tottori, Japan. Daisen Field produces unusually high quality turf because of its rich, porous black andosol soils, the result of ancient volcanic ash and pumice. A few years later, the company expanded their sod production to Hokuei field in the nearby Hojo sand dune area, which also runs along the coastline. Their third production field is in the Ibaraki Prefecture in the Kanto region of Honshu, which is close to Tokyo and very advantageous for meeting the needs of that vibrant urban market.
Golf Course Contract Maintenance
With more than 25 golf course clients throughout Japan, Chubu is uniquely positioned to help customers streamline their management practices and improve their bottom lines. The Chubu’s golf course design, construction, maintenance and club management team offers a totally integrated approach.
Club Operations and Management
With over 40 years of industry experiences and know-hows, Chubu currently operates and manages 6 courses mainly in western Japan.
DESIGN, ENGINEERING & CONSTRUCTION
This division is responsible for helping customers and clients with original design concepts for new projects and renovations. It follows through with our Design-Build Division provides construction expertise, from large scale golf course projects to natural and artificial surfaces for sports fields, residential lawns, elementary and secondary school playgrounds, and commercial projects - such as rooftop turf installations and public-friendly urban “green walks.” This division is virtually a one-stop shop for innovative architectural design, actual hands-on commercial and residential construction, and finished landscaping. This includes slope protection for public parks and highways.
R&D
Chubu Green Research Institute (CGRI) is responsible for developing new and improved zoysiagrass cultivars for residential and commercial uses as well as for golf courses and sports fields. Chubu’s R&D Division and NARO (The National Agricultural and Food Research Organization of Japan), worked in concert to develop FOX, a new disease-tolerant zoysiagrass, which is patented in the United States. Chubu’s R&D is also focused on player safety and surface playability, particularly on natural grass fields. The player safety evaluations includes the HIC (Head Injury Criterion, EN 1177), shock absorption, vertical stability, and energy repulsion measurement, which make up the European safety standards.
